Privacy Policy

1. What This Covers
This policy explains what SJW ("the bot", "we", "us") collects when you use it in a Discord server, or sign in to its web dashboard, and what we do — and don't do — with that information.
2. Information We Collect
When the bot is added to a server, it stores, per server:
- Server configuration (feature toggles, channel IDs, role IDs, custom messages you write).
- Per-member statistics: XP/level, message counts, invite counts, warning history, economy balances.
- Reminders you create with
/remind. - Server backups you explicitly generate with
/backup.
When you sign in to the web dashboard via Discord OAuth2, we receive your Discord user ID, username, avatar, and the list of servers you have Manage Server permission in — enough to show you the right servers and let you edit their settings. We never see or store your Discord password.
We do not store message content. Messages are inspected in memory to run features like leveling, automod, and word filters, then discarded — with one exception, covered below.
3. AI Moderation (Opt-In)
If a server enables AI Moderation, a message flagged by the rules engine is sent to our AI provider to be scored for a policy violation, in the moment. We do not keep a copy of that message text in our own database afterward. This feature is off by default and can be disabled at any time from the dashboard.
4. How We Use Information
Collected data is used solely to run the features you and your server's staff have enabled — leveling, moderation, tickets, giveaways, the economy system, and the dashboard itself. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not build behavioral profiles beyond what a feature needs to function (e.g. XP totals for leveling).
5. What We Don't Do
- We don't read or store direct messages between users.
- We don't sell data, in any form, to anyone.
- We don't share data with third parties beyond what's strictly needed to run a feature you've enabled (e.g. the AI Moderation provider, only for messages actually being checked).
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Data for a server is retained while the bot remains in that server. If the bot is removed, stored settings and stats simply stop updating. If you'd like your server's data deleted outright, contact us on our support server or by email and we'll process the request.
7. Children's Privacy
SJW is intended for use in compliance with Discord's own Terms of Service, which requires users to meet Discord's minimum age requirement. We don't knowingly collect additional data about children beyond what Discord itself provides through normal bot operation.
8. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll post a note in our support server and update the "Last updated" date above.
9. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to support@sjw.bot.cd, or raised directly in our support server.
